Episode Notes
Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk a uniquely forward-looking, story-based podcast for anyone charmed by and curious about the power of story to profoundly and positively shift our awareness, our behavior, even our culture as well as those who wish to learn more about the power of walking to reveal the world around us and within us. Like magic, the sorcery of stories is this: they help each of us to be seen and heard, to understand and be understood.
The tee shirt says, “Face Your Fears & Live Your Dreams!”
What the tee shirt doesn’t say is how we’ve been raised from the beginning of time to fear Fear. A great man once wrote, “The only thing we have to fear is Fear itself.” No wonder we’re so afraid of Fear.
We all experience Fear. It connects us to each other in some weirdly universal way. What I wonder is this: what if Fear is really nothing to be afraid of? What if Fear hangs around us because it doesn’t like to be alone?
Here’s my story……….
How do you end a story like this one?
A little differently than the way it began. Fear is afraid of being alone. And the more I look at fear that way the more inclined I am to say, okay, come inside, stand with me, and look at this lovely picture hanging on the wall. See, there’s nothing to be afraid of here.
