I’ve been practicing the power of mindful breathing to bring an experience of freedom by letting go of past regrets, future worries, and smiling to my suffering, my difficulties.

Thich Nhat Hanh teaches that nothing is more important than our peace, our joy. How does he arrive there? He says, “I establish myself in the present moment.”

I was struck by that word: establish. It means to begin or bring about. I believe that the idea of freedom arises from a very solid, deliberate decision to choose to establish oneself in the present moment, choosing peace over suffering.

Establish. What a difference 1 word makes.
