60 Seconds: No One Can Imagine Your Life for You. That’s Your Job!

Hello! to you in Metairie, Louisiana.
Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.
Once in my Advanced Biology Placement class my senior year of high school a short-sighted nun told me from her seat in front of class that I was just lucky to be there because I wasn’t cut out for biology. And, she went on, don’t even think about getting a bachelor’s degree in nursing; if you’re not cut out for science you’re not cut out for nursing.
Back then I didn’t really know about discrimination but I did know I felt put down. Okay! if that’s the way she wants to play the game then I’ll show her. If I have to work twice as hard then at the end of the day I‘ll be twice as good. And I was.
Practical Tip: Don’t let them tell you you can’t. And, if they do then you show them they’re wrong – twice as wrong. Don’t let anyone stunt your own wide-open life frontier because no one can imagine your life for you! That’s your job!
