Hello to you listening in Durban City, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey.

Taking advantage of the first sunny day in a week of dense clouds and rain I walked a trail near the Admiralty Head Lighthouse bordering the old parade grounds at Fort Casey on my way to the beaches below the cliffs.

Drifting overhead were soap bubbles, the size of basketballs. But how?

An elderly man held two poles, one in each hand from which was suspended a long loop of string. Slowly he’d dip the loop into a bucket of soapy water at his feet, then raise his arms inviting the sea breeze to create shimmering soap bubbles. Children and dogs ran here and there trying to catch them floating up, up and away.

But what caught my eye were the big humans, standing still, gazing and, I imagine, remembering once again being a child, young, free, chasing soap bubbles of a sunny afternoon.
