Hello to you *listening* in Petah Tiqwa (Tikva), Israel!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

Walking the hills and trails at Greenbank Farm my eye was drawn across Honeymoon Bay and the Saratoga Passage to the Northern Cascade Mountains in the east, jagged peaks still etched in snow in the middle of summer.

I wondered about the early pioneers who crossed those rugged and forbidding mountains unaware of what awaited them on the other side except maybe this: that the lives they had led were not going to be the lives they would lead.

How did they do it? Courage, fortitude, willingness, resilience, patience, humor and kindness. And perhaps the awareness that they would not go back to what they knew.

We have to dig deep into this pioneer spirit as we forge new paths in the days to come; but we can and we will as long as we remember to say “Yes! I am grateful. Come what may!”
