60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: How Do You Go Lightly When Your Work Is So Serious?

Hello to you listening in Kiruna, Swedish Lapland!
Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.
Everyone everywhere seems intent on doing their unique bit to shift, dent, change, impact, disrupt, disturb or create a ruckus so that the world is a little better off when the sun goes down at the end of the day.
That’s all well and good. The world needs a hand up. But while you’re making your way in the world with all this serious work you have to do remember to take yourself lightly, not so gosh darn preposterously serious. It’s a lesson I’ve learned later in life. Take delight in your work! Have a good time with it. Relish the moments you are being of use. Savor the pleasure of being alive.
Aldous Huxley took his own advice to heart. “There are quicksands all about you, sucking at your feet trying to suck you down into fear and self-pity and despair. That’s why you must walk so lightly. Lightly, my darling. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply.” [Aldous Huxley ~ renowned 20th-century intellectual who wrote Brave New World]
