Episode Notes
Hello to you *listening* in Dubai, United Arab Emirates!
Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.
Did you ever consider that “Breathing is the first act of life and the last.” Imagine your own first gasp. Imagine the final. When we breathe mindfully we are in touch with our Life.
When we breathe mindfully we anchor ourselves in the present moment letting go of worrying about past regrets and future worries. The simple act of mindful breathing has been shown to reduce stress, lower your heart rate and blood pressure, manage pain, decrease negative thinking, and more.
Practical Tip: Throughout the day take 5 minutes to sit quietly. Focus your attention on your in-breath and out-breath. Be aware of cool air as it comes in your nose and warm air as it leaves. Allow your breath to come and go naturally, slowly, gently. Let go of your stress, your worry, your anxiety.
