When I tended honeybees in my apiary on an organic farm I would often sit on the ground with my ear pressed against the side of a hive box listening to the thrum of activity, the colony of worker bees living their lives, giving it their all in the 5 or 6 weeks of life allotted to them.

As the time allotted to me winds down I’m aware that death is certain, but the time of death is uncertain. Of course, I have no clue how much time is left to fulfill the potential of my precious human birth. So, it’s even more urgent to ask myself where did the day go? What did I do? Who did I help? What do I have to show for these hours? Maybe you’re like me.

Practical Tip: Let’s stop and ask ourselves: What is the single best use of this day in my life? Sit quietly and breathe deeply to create a still space, slow the worrying, the mind chatter. Silence will dawn with all its magic and sacredness. In that stillness you will have your answer.
