60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday: Getting Out of My Own Way

Hello to you Ipek Williamson listening in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada!
Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday.
Maybe you’ve heard this saying: “When you’re a hammer *everything* looks like a nail.” For a long time in my life I lived like a hammer. I was standing in my own way of living life with patience, acceptance and tolerance. I had to learn to step aside, get out of my own way.
How come this self- awareness is important? Because we are all affecting the world every moment. As Thich Nhat Hanh teaches we inter-are. Our actions, words, behaviors, and so on ripple out into the world. “Nothing exists by itself alone. We all belong to each other; we cannot cut reality into pieces.” [Thich Nhat Hanh]
Practical Tip: If we can practice remaining grounded and centered when we are confronted with a person or situation that irritates us – or worse – we are deepening our spiritual perspective and mastering our internal reality. It’s good for what ails us; it’s good for creation.
60 Seconds is your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that. This is the place to thrive together. Come for the stories – stay for the magic.
