Episode Notes
Hello to you listening in Red Bank, New Jersey!
Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with questions carefully chosen to help you collect stories in the oral tradition or spark your own writing. Either way, you’ll say, “Thanks for the memories.”
Someone stole my sticks! I need those sticks for the weeks ahead on the Camino, to navigate muddy, rocky, slippery, downhill slopes, mountain passes, and raging streams. My sticks are red. I know them. They know me. Now they’re gone!
Glancing around the café where we had stopped for late morning coffee I could see pilgrims patting their sticks protectively worried someone might take their trekking poles, too.
Now what? I decide to head out at a run, in my hiking boots, with my pack, to see if I could find my sticks. I was angry, self-pitying, cursing, and crying. Eventually out of breath. I stopped. I conceded. I realized I could buy another pair in a city up ahead.
Just then I saw her swinging my sticks. I called out, caught up, and without a word she turned and handed them to me, reminding me once again that much we suffer is a mere inconvenience, an annoyment. And then Life provides.
Story Prompt: When has Life provided for you when you least expected it? Write that story!
Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story.
