Episode Notes
Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.
As I child I loved speeding my green two-wheeler bike down the hill that was perpendicular to our house and across the street before skidding to a stop in the neighbor’s gravel driveway. The better I got at balance and speed the less and less I used my hands on the handlebars. “Look, mom! No hands!” There were a few near misses but nothing fatal and I kept all my teeth.
What did my mother say about all this? “Remember to always wear clean underwear. Huh? God forbid you come screaming down that hill, get hit by a car, break your leg, go to the hospital, and in the emergency room when they cut away your jeans to fix your leg someone is going to see your dirty underwear and wonder what kind of mother lets her child go out like that?”
Question: What memorable lesson did your mom impart to you?
